Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the Duma Committee on Information Policy, said that he does not exclude the appearance of a mechanism for marking deepfakes (photos and videos that contain elements added to the original image by neural networks) by the end of this year.
“I hope that by the end of the year something related will appear, perhaps with the marking of deepfakes,” Gorelkin said.
The head of the Association of Professional Users of Social Networks and Messengers, Vladimir Zykov, told RIA Novosti that, in his opinion, the deepfake labeling system is necessary in Russia for social networks. He explained that the user must know what is valid data and what is not.
“Users should be aware of the falsification – said the expert – so that they do not believe the rumors.”
