The number of DDoS attacks on Russian IT systems in 2022 increased by 73% compared to 2021, Alexander Lyamin, founder of Qrator Labs, told Vedomosti. A similar assessment was given by the chief expert of Kaspersky Lab Sergey Golovanov: the growth in the number of DDoS attacks was 60-70% year-on-year. Most attacks were directed at media resources and the financial sector, in particular, payment systems and banking applications. They accounted for more than 40% of the total number of attacks, Qrator Labs analysts calculated.
At the end of 2022, the number of DDoS attacks on the media increased 30 times, on the public sector – 25 times, on the financial sector – 18 times, on telecom and insurance – 12 times, Ramil Khantimirov, co-founder and CEO of StormWall, cited data . Also, according to him, a significant increase in attacks on other industries was recorded: retail – 8 times, entertainment and logistics – 4 times, education – 2 times.
