The lower house of the Russian parliament passed a law protecting the Russian language from the excessive use of borrowings from foreign languages, says on the official Internet portal of the State Duma.
According to the new law, normative grammar dictionaries and reference books with the norms of the modern Russian literary language will appear in the Russian Federation. On top of that, draft regulations will be required to undergo a linguistic examination for compliance with the norms of the Russian language.
It is prohibited to use words and expressions that do not comply with the norms of the Russian language (including obscene language), with the exception of foreign words that have no analogues in Russian and are listed in standard dictionaries, the text of the bill says.
