The US administration is concerned about the upcoming charges against foreign mercenaries in the DPR, State Department head Anthony Blinken tweeted.
It is reported that we are talking about three Britons, one Croat and one Swede, who served in the nationalist Azov battalion (banned in the Russian Federation) and other armed formations of Ukraine.
Blinken called the DPR authorities “illegitimate”, and expressed concern about the upcoming charges. He also called on Russia and “forces under its control” to ensure respect for international law, including the rights provided for prisoners of war.
Earlier it was reported that the Supreme Court of the DPR will bring charges against British citizens John Harding, Dylan Healy and Andrew Hill, the Swede Matthias Gustavsson and the Croat Vekoslav Prebeg. These persons were taken prisoner in Mariupol.
In June, the DPR sentenced to death British citizens Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as Moroccan Brahim Saadoun. They were accused of participating in hostilities as part of the Ukrainian armed formations as mercenaries.
