The State Commission allowed the third attempt to launch Angara-A5 from Vostochny

The State Commission approved the Angara-A5 rocket for refueling and launch on April 11 from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. The rocket launch was planned for April 9 and then April 10, but was canceled due to system failures.

“The launch of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle with the Orion upper stage and test payload from pad 1A is scheduled for April 11 at 12:00:00 Moscow time,”— reported “Roscosmos”.

As the head of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov explained, the first attempt to launch Angara-A5, scheduled for April 9, was canceled two minutes before launch due to a failure of the pressurization system of the oxidizer tank of the central block of the rocket. He promised that the problems would be fixed.

Later State Commission approved re-launch on April 10. He was canceledsince specialists identified “new technical problem” in the engine start control system. Yuri Borisov said that most likely this is a software error that should be fixed within 24 hours.

Angara-A5 is the first rocket developed and created after the collapse of the USSR. The launch infrastructure for the rocket at the Vostochny Cosmodrome has been under construction since 2018. It can launch up to 7.5 tons of payload into orbit. It was assumed that in the future the Angara family of rockets will replace Proton launch vehicles.
