The spring charity marathon “Cycling for good” took place in Moscow

On March 4, the spring charity marathon “Cycling for Good” was held at the Rock the Cycle sports studio in the very center of Moscow. This year the marathon is timed to coincide with Down Syndrome Day, which is celebrated every year around the world on March 21st. The goal of the marathon is to raise 400,000 rubles for educational and developmental programs for people with Down syndrome.

Cycling is a group exercise on professional exercise bikes accompanied by upbeat, energetic music. The instructor controls the workout, gives instructions to slow down or speed up the pace, or simply motivates not to give up. Classes include cardio exercises and power blocks with dumbbells. Cycling is one of the most sought after activities in the fitness world.

By tradition, the cycling marathon is held by the Love Syndrome charity foundation as part of the Sport for Good project. This year the event consisted of 5 races of 40 minutes each, the winners of each race received prizes from marathon partners.

Yulia Lavricheva, General Director of the Love Syndrome Charitable Foundation, noted: “We are holding our already traditional spring charitable marathon “Cycling for Good” with pleasure and joy. As always, the goals of our kind event are to raise funds for the wards of the foundation and once again remind the guests of the marathon that people with Down syndrome are rightfully active participants in everyday life and that helping and supporting them is great! And it is also joyful that “Cycling for Good” will be one of the launch events on the eve of March 21 – International Day of People with Down Syndrome.”

The wards of the Love Syndrome Foundation not only performed at the cycling races, but also became active participants in the entire organizational process: from guiding the guests of the studio to awarding the winners. Here is one of the most active wards of the Love Syndrome Foundation Stas Bogdanov, he took part in cycling for the sixth time. The young man rode two races in a row and spoke about his impressions: “As always, I tried very hard to pedal quickly and even decided to take part in the second race. I am always happy to attend the sporting events of our foundation and look forward to new competitions!”
The individual winners were Alexander Shvetsov, Tatyana Kozlova, Maxim Baranovsky, Yulia Basharina, Anna Igonchenkova, Andrey Yakovlev, Elena Lvutina, Sergey Duboshin, Elena Zelenkova, Anton Losev. The participants noted the high level of organization of cycling, the warm atmosphere and kind attitude towards the wards of the Love Syndrome Foundation.

“We are glad that spring has come along with our favorite sports project “Cycling for good”! And we are happy that in such a difficult time for raising funds for charitable programs, our event again attracted the attention of new and already time-tested partners and individual participants. Thank you everyone for your support, because the main goal for which we have gathered today is to help people with Down syndrome!” – said Lilia Akhmetzyanova, executive director of the Love Syndrome charity foundation.

Thanks to the marathon, the Love Syndrome fund-organizer managed to raise more than 500,000 rubles for educational and development programs for people with Down syndrome. More than 100 people took part in the good event, including the wards of the foundation, children with Down syndrome.
