The Government of the Russian Federation approved amendments to the Rules of the Road (SDA). Many of them relate to means of individual mobility (SIM).

According to the changes made to the traffic rules, the status of SIM has been officially assigned to electric scooters, electric skateboards, hoverboards, segways, unicycles and other similar devices, according to the website of the Russian government.

The maximum speed allowed on the SIM is 25 km/h. And the weight of electric vehicles, which can be used on sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian paths, should not exceed 35 kg.

When driving on paths and sidewalks on which there are pedestrians, SIM owners will have to limit the speed to 5 km / h – that is, to the speed at which a person usually walks.

Crossing the road, as is done now, is prohibited. Under the new rules, SIM users, as well as cyclists, will have to dismount before a pedestrian crossing.

It is allowed to drive on the roads on the SIM, but also with some restrictions. First, children under the age of 14 are not allowed on the road. Secondly, you can only drive on the SIM along the right edge of the roadway. Thirdly, you can only ride on roads where the maximum speed is limited to 60 km / h and cyclists are allowed. There are requirements for equipping the SIM – you can only drive on the road on devices that have a brake system and white and red headlights.

New road signs will be introduced to regulate traffic on the SIM. They will notify about the permission, restriction or prohibition of the use of electric vehicles in certain areas.

Two more new road signs will also appear – one will inform about the availability of charging for electric vehicles, and the second – about the ban on buses.

Drivers of vehicles will have to get used to another innovation: according to changes in the traffic rules, movement, stopping and parking on guide islands and safety islands are prohibited.

But now it will be easier to understand where you can park for free: paid parking zones, according to the new rules, will be marked with blue lines, and free ones with white lines.

The signs for paid parking and parking for the disabled will also look different: in the first case, coins will be shown next to the letter P, and in the second, a pictographic image of a wheelchair user will be added to the letter P.
