They picked up pieces of iron, and they turned out to be shells … and detonated, ”recalled the mother of one of the injured boys. She got off the bus, returning from work, three ambulances flashed towards her with flashing lights and sirens: “I could not even imagine that my son was in one of them.”

Of the three who were blown up, 14-year-old Seryozha was the most unlucky: amputation of his arm, then amputation of his leg. “Three fingers on my hand were also torn off. They could still be found in the grass, probably sewn on, but they were afraid to look, all of a sudden there were more shells there, ”the mother explained.

Then, in 2015, Elizaveta Glinka took the first batch of children with similar injuries out of the war zone. In most cases, the stories were repeated: the victims tried to disassemble the shells found somewhere, and they detonated, or were in the company of those who did it.

Says the former assistant to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Major General of Justice Igor Komissarov, that he and Dr. Lisa dealt with this topic together: “The vast majority of the victims are victims of accidental explosions found or unexploded ordnance. I personally know each of the children who were brought from there with severe injuries.

One night, my wife and I were awakened by a child who, due to circumstances, had to spend the night in our apartment. He was one of those children brought by Dr. Liza from Donetsk. And who was really saved from imminent death by wonderful medical workers from the Research Institute of Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology. The child told me that he could not sleep and that he was afraid that his dead brother would come to him. That he should tell me the truth. The truth that my brother died not as a result of shelling, but due to negligence from handling a mine … He suffered physically and mentally. We talked for a long time that night. That what happened was not his fault. And that this is our common problem. And that I will definitely save him and never leave him. I tried to keep my promise.

– Lisa and I developed leaflets. It was our idea. My friends printed them, they were brought to the DPR and LPR and distributed wherever possible. Including schools, kindergartens, educational institutions. About how children should behave when explosive objects are found. The most important thing is not to approach them and call for help immediately. After that, there were no wounded and killed children for many years.

Such accidents associated with the poor handling of ammunition are called death or injury due to “explosive remnants of war.” There are no accurate statistics on them. It is only known that most of these tragedies occurred in 2014-2015. Later – only isolated cases. I remember a horrendous story when a militia father brought home a shell to show his son how it works, and the shell accidentally exploded in their hands.

By the way, we are told that veterans who have personally gone through military operations will teach children – as experienced and competent people. I wonder on what dummies it is planned to do this?
