The South Korean Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador because of Moscow’s position on the Korean Peninsula

The South Korean Foreign Ministry reported that it had summoned the Russian Ambassador to the Republic, Georgy Zinoviev, and protested to him in connection with the position of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed the view that the statements of South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol about North Korea sound odious against the backdrop of Seoul’s participation in exercises with the United States.

Zakharova also stated that the DPRK, contrary to Yun Sok Yeol’s statement, is not “the only country” that has legislated the possibility of launching a “preventive nuclear strike.” The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that disarming strikes on enemy countries are provided for by US doctrine.
