First they gave him 17 years, now – 19
The Moscow Regional Court on Friday passed a sentence on Artur Dzhioev, an active member of the gang of the well-known crime boss Dzhako (Aslan Gagiev). This is the second conviction of one of the most active members of the gang of brutal killers.
Dzhioev hid in Greece for a long time. He was detained in 2015 with fake driving license and extradited to Russia a few years later. Then Artur was charged with several murders committed in North Ossetia – in particular, it was proved that he participated in the organization of the elimination of a businessman from Beslan, Viktor Tuaev, and the deputy prosecutor of the Industrial District of Vladikavkaz, Oleg Oziev. For those crimes in 2019, Dzhioev received 17 years in prison.
After that, the investigation proved the involvement of Dzhioev in many other murders. Among them are very high-profile cases, such as, for example, the elimination of the investigator of the Northern Investigation Department of the Moscow Interregional Investigation Department of the ICR on Transport, Alexander Leonov. It is believed that the murder was commissioned by the sister of Leonov’s ex-wife, the prosecutor of the Iristonsky district of Vladikavkaz, Olga Shvetsova. Dzhioev drove the killer on a motorcycle to the crime scene on Krylatskiye Holmy Street. Another high-profile case is the murder of Oleg Novoselsky, chairman of the board of the Kutuzovsky bank. He was shot, the body was hidden in a barrel, filled with cement and drowned in the Moscow Canal.
It was believed that Artur Dzhioev was in a special position in Dzhako’s gang – the leader of the gang distinguished him from others, provided patronage, and even taught him to shoot. Perhaps that is why Arthur was affectionately called Sonny. However, in the course there was another nickname – the Figure – because of the impressive appearance.
As MK was told in the press service of the Moscow Regional Court, the second sentence for a series of murders and participation in a gang turned out to be more severe – 19 years in prison, followed by restriction of freedom for 1.6 years.
