An appeals court in Norway’s Hologaland has ruled that Andrei Yakunin, the son of former head of Russian Railways, should be kept in custody, NRK reports.
Yakunin’s son was first arrested on October 19, accused of using a drone in Svalbard. He was later released from custody twice, but the judge changed the decision again. Consideration of the case on the merits is scheduled for November 29.
The judge justified his decision to leave Yakunin in custody by the fact that he could hide abroad. In addition, the case file notes that Yakunin “twice forged his Russian passport” and also gave contradictory testimony.
According to the rules of Norway, Russians are prohibited from using drones on the territory of the country.
