The son of Kostya Tszyu defended his WBO junior middleweight title for the first time

The son of Russian boxer Konstantin Tszyu, Tim Tszyu (representing Australia), defended his world junior middleweight title for the first time. In a fight with American Brian Mendoza, he defended his belt as the best boxer on the planet according to the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
The fight between Tim Tszyu and Brian Mendoza took place in Broadbeach, Australia and lasted all 12 rounds. Tim Tszyu won by unanimous decision (116–111, 116–112, 117–111). As a result of the fight, Tim Tszyu also took away the title of interim world champion in junior middleweight according to the World Boxing Council (WBC) from Brian Mendoza.
After the fight, Tim Tszyu said that he would like to fight with American boxer Jermell Charlo in the near future.
28-year-old Tim Tszyu has 24 victories (17 of them by knockout) in the professional boxing ring and not a single defeat. In March 2023, he won the title of interim world boxing champion in the WBO light middleweight and defended the belt in June.
Tim Tszyu was born in 1994, two years after his parents moved to Australia from Russia. Konstantin Tszyu divorced Tim’s mother in 2013 and moved to Moscow.
