Russian President Vladimir Putin will eventually visit Chechnya, his press secretary Dmitry Peskov said. He did not give specific dates. November 20, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov invited president to the republic, conveying the request of the “elders”.

“Kadyrov invited him. And someday, of course, he will come. He goes to the regions,” said Mr. Peskov TASS. “The situation is very tense right now,” the Kremlin spokesman added.

Ramzan Kadyrov, in contact with the president during the ceremony of handing over new equipment to the regions for public transport, said that the elders were scolding him because Vladimir Putin had not come to Chechnya for a long time. “We asked you to tell you to come to us,” said the head of the region.

Vladimir Putin did not respond to the invitation. The last time he visited Chechnya was in 2011. At that time, Mr. Putin served as Prime Minister.
