Singer Eduard Charlotte returned to Russia to “repent for his actions,” said his father Valery Charlotte. RIA Novosti reports this.
He called for the young man to be given the opportunity to rehabilitate himself. “The fact that he has now returned, realizing that he can be met and that exactly what is happening now will happen, this must be assessed somehow positively, and given the opportunity to do something to rehabilitate himself,” he said.
The singer’s father also said that his son’s stay behind bars will not provide society with the benefit that he could bring in freedom. Valery Charlotte noted that his son is “a little weak” and has “wrong authority.”
“If someone pulled him along, he, without really delving into the situation, really succumbs to this influence. He chose the wrong authorities for himself,” said Charlotte Sr.
Earlier, the Kirovsky District Court of Samara decided to arrest singer Eduard Charlotte. The artist will be detained until January 24, 2024. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Samara Region opened three criminal cases against Charlotte under two articles: 345.1 “Rehabilitation of Nazism” and 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Insulting the feelings of believers.”
On November 22, the singer was detained at Pulkovo airport. Earlier, Charlotte announced his return to Russia and admitted that he did not have enough money, asking his subscribers on social networks to help him buy a ticket. Charlotte said that after returning he intended to live in the village and also record a new album. According to him, he predetermined his life in Russian-speaking culture and “will fight for it.”
Before arriving in Russia, in his videos, he burned a Russian passport, and also announced his intentions to “support Ukraine” and come to Kyiv, and appealed to the Kyiv authorities to help him in this. He also insulted the singer Shaman and others. After this, social activists called for a criminal case to be opened against him.
