The shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Nikolaev region led to a fire in the reserve and casualties, RIA Novosti reports with reference to representatives of the emergency services of the neighboring Kherson region.
As reported, the shelling provoked a fire in a unique reserve on the Kinburn Spit peninsula in the Nikolaev region, thousands of hectares of forest are burning. Four local residents were killed. Kinburn Spit is a protected landscape park in the Russian-controlled part of the Nikolaev region.
The report refers to the irretrievable loss of more than 11 thousand hectares of forest, as well as the impossibility of extinguishing fires in the face of ongoing shelling.
It is noted that the damage could be more, but local residents took part in extinguishing the fires.
