The school literature curriculum was supplemented with the works of Soviet writers

The head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, said that in accordance with the new Federal State Educational Standards (FSES), the number of teaching hours in the Russian language and literature will be increased in schools. The school literature curriculum will be expanded with works by Soviet writers and poets. Among them were Konstantin Simonov, Mikhail Sholokhov and Alexander Fadeev, said press office ministries.
The literary program includes Konstantin Simonov’s poem “The Son of an Artilleryman”, Mikhail Sholokhov’s epic novel “The Quiet Don”, Alexei Tolstoy’s story “The Russian Character”, Alexander Fadeev’s novel “The Young Guard”, Sergei Smirnov’s book “The Brest Fortress”, a novel by Yuri Bondarev “Hot Snow”, selected chapters from the novel “How the Steel Was Tempered” by Nikolai Ostrovsky and the novel “In August 1944” by Vladimir Bogomolov, the Ministry of Education said in a statement.
According to Mr. Kravtsov, cited by the press service, according to the new programs, the study of the Russian language at school should be given 61 hours a week, literature – 35 hours.
In September 2022, the Ministry of Education amended the Federal State Educational Standard. According to the document, in particular, sections on the military operation in Ukraine were included in the school history curricula for grades 10-11.
