17-year-old Asan (name changed), Ulugbek’s son is very laconic, does not want to communicate with anyone and asks not to discuss, but to remove the bloody video.
According to the few known sources, this was the case. At 8:20 in the morning, Asan went to school, and on the way he was attacked by two or three thugs who sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. His father saw this from the window – the house is just opposite the school. He rushed to the rescue in what he was – therefore, in the video filmed by the surveillance camera, he is with a naked torso.
It can be seen how a man attacks one of the guys, and the second one runs away at first. But then he returns, knocks the man down and beats him with a cleaver. Asan’s fellow students managed to find out that in their school, the oldest in Mirny (it is more than half a century old), not everything is calm. Bullying is common there, there are also “teachers who yell and do not respect anyone.”
There are only a few Kyrgyz in middle and high school, and they all stick together. And there are reasons for this. Asan is the leader of this small group. He is closed, quiet, studies well. He loves music and literature, dreams of visiting Los Angeles.
Such attacks – sprayed in the face with pepper spray, and then beaten and robbed – are not uncommon in the city. If you read internal social networks, it is easy to find such information. “MK” contacted one of the victims. Lily (name changed) — Auth.) reported that she, too, was sprayed with “this pepper” in her face, her eyes were swollen and she had to take sick leave. But they didn’t have time to do anything else, they were frightened off by a security guard, because they attacked near the store. “Why did they attack? Because I’m Lee, Korean,” the woman believes.
However, with all the secrecy, Asan pointed to the one who sprayed a spray can in his face. And accordingly, he attacked his father. 17-year-old Andrei Ch. (his name has been changed, an investigation is underway. – Author) has been detained, but his accomplice (or accomplices, perhaps there were three attackers at the beginning) has not yet been. Most likely, this Andrei, now a first-year student at the Yakut Medical College, previously studied in the same class as Astanov.
Interestingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) interprets what happened as an attack by hooligans on a passerby. Like, he was walking by, they sprayed him in the face (an interesting conclusion of the investigation), then they slashed him for some reason. The press service of the department also reports that “a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1, art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Attempted murder”).
“There have always been skinheads in Mirny, but this is the first time it has come to such savagery,” locals argue in public. But they add that “the problem of harassment on ethnic grounds in the schools of Mirny is still relevant.”
Yakutians admit that the problem has been acute for them since 2019, when the thousandth “anti-immigrant” rally was held in the capital of the region. But Mirny has always been peaceful… As it turned out, xenophobia has reached the “diamond city”. And suffer from it, as always, the most vulnerable.
