Chairman of the Board of the Sakharov Center (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent) Vyacheslav Bakhmin said that the organization had completely vacated the museum-apartment of Academician Andrei Sakharov on Zemlyanoy Val in Moscow. Things from the apartment were transferred to the next one, which belongs to the relatives of the academician.
“From February 18 to February 28, it was necessary to take out everything that was possible from this apartment. We took everything out, and from today it is already at the disposal of Moscow,” Mr. Bakhmin told Interfax.
On January 26, he reported that the Sakharov Center was given one month to move out of the archive apartment. It was provided to the center on an indefinite lease by the Moscow government.
The organization was also ordered to leave other premises in Moscow within three months. In the Department of City Property of Moscow, the requirement explained legislation on foreign agents (the Sakharov Center received such a legal status in 2014). On February 7, The Andrei Sakharov foundation (the Andrei Sakharov Foundation, USA), affiliated with the Sakharov Center, was recognized as an undesirable organization.
