Representatives of the Russian Federation this year were not awarded the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun. This is evidenced by the decision of the Japanese government.
In the last list, published on April 29 on Showa Day (the birthday of the former Emperor Hirohito), there were no Russians either. Prior to this, citizens of the Russian Federation were regularly awarded such orders. The lists are published twice a year.
The last time the Russians did not hit it was in the spring of 2019.
In total, 4,118 citizens of Japan and other countries received awards at the last award. The list includes: well-known fashion designer Junko Kosino, former executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Henrietta Fore and former US national security adviser Thomas Donilon.
