The Russians forced the Polish hotel to change the rules of settling with bad reviews

Our compatriots took revenge on the hotel staff

Our interlocutor has been living in Poland for more than 10 years. On November 13, the girl planned to celebrate her 50th birthday with her mother in the city of Poznan. I booked a room in a 5 star hotel. But upon arrival, the Russian woman was denied accommodation with the wording: we do not provide services to citizens of the Russian Federation.

The girl left a negative review about the hotel on the Web. The Russian-speaking community in Poland supported the compatriot and attacked the hotel with negative reviews. The rating of the hotel went down sharply. The hotel management was forced to change its position.

– I have been living in Poland for 10 years and travel often. But this is the first time I have encountered such an attitude,” says Maria (name changed). We came with my mother for her birthday in Poznan to the hotel, where we had a reservation for two days. There are only three good hotels with a pool in the city, this one is one of them.

Upon arrival, I handed my passport to the receptionist. At the counter, a certain Mr. Leszek looked at my passport and refused to register us. “We will not accommodate you,” he said and pointed to “rus” in my document. – See? Because of this. We have a principle in our hotel: we do not accommodate guests with Russian citizenship.” Then he added that he was following the instructions given to him by the leadership. I asked to contact the hotel management. At the other end of the wire, the lady confirmed that Russians were not being settled. I asked what I personally did bad to the hotel? She replied, “Nothing. But a lot of bad things happen in the world, and people have done nothing to anyone, but are forced to suffer.”

I burst into tears from resentment. In turn, my mother asked the receptionist to give us a written confirmation of the cancellation of the reservation due to Russian citizenship. She was denied. The employee also did not provide his personal data. When his mother wanted to take a picture of him, he called security. They continued to bully us.

We ended up booking another hotel and leaving. On the Internet, I left a review that this is the worst hotel in Poland.

The girl was supported by Russians living in Poland – hundreds of negative reviews rained down on the hotel. Netizens brought down the rating of the hotel.

Then the hotel management published a response on the Web: “We respect all guests, regardless of their nationality, religion, skin color, gender, political views, disability, sexual orientation or worldview.

On November 13, 2022, our employee was insulted by two people with Russian passports. Unfortunately, their behavior made it impossible to sell the room due to attacks against hotel employees, they said that Russian times would return to Poland, they spoke negatively about Ukrainians. They used anti-Polish terms, and the softest ones were: we will do the same with you, Poles, as with Ukrainians. We care about the safety of our guests, so we decided not to provide accommodation for aggressive people.”

– It’s a lie. I have a good attitude towards both the Poles and the Ukrainians, I just could not say that, – says Maria. – I came to rest, not to discuss with the porter. When the Russian-speaking community supported me and left their comments, the hotel staff at first answered everyone with “russian trolling”.

In just a day, the reputation of the once one of the best hotels in Poland suffered decently. And the leadership decided to change its position in relation to the Russians. When one of the Russians turned to the hotel with a request to book a room, she was answered: “We are cordially waiting for you.” Another Russian woman, after talking with the hotel manager, reported online: “I was informed that from today the reception received an order to treat guests with Russian passports the same way as everyone else.”
