Press Service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region reportedthat a 66-year-old resident of Sergiev Posad was hospitalized with a severe swelling of her face, which prevented the pensioner from even opening her eyes and almost cost her her life
It turned out that such swelling was the result of a runny nose.
The woman was examined in the hospital and revealed an acute purulent inflammation of the soft tissues that developed against the background of a bacterial infection. Pus had already filled the sinuses and periorbital areas, which caused inflammation of the eye sockets.
The patient was on the verge of losing her sight. She could develop sepsis, the health problems caused by an untreated runny nose could be fatal.
The patient was punctured and the pus was removed. Then the doctors opened and removed the contents of the maxillary sinus.
Now the woman has already been discharged and prescribed her home treatment.
