A historian from Yakutia suggested that Putin move the capital of Russia
Afanasy Nikolaev, a candidate of historical sciences from Yakutia, turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a proposal to move the capital of Russia. The scientist’s open letter was published by the Sakhalife portal.
The new capital, according to the historian, should be located in Irkutsk. The scientist cited as arguments that Irkutsk is more useful in terms of geography and the city’s protection from external threats.
Nikolaev believes that moving the capital from Moscow will ensure the balanced development of the European and Asian parts of Russia, the security of the military-political leadership of the country and will accelerate the socio-economic development of the state.
