The Russian Paralympic alpine skiing team among people with musculoskeletal disorders arrived in Sakhalin. Athletes conduct training camps at the Vostok training center, the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports reported.
Paralympians from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk and Altai territories, as well as the Sakhalin region are preparing for the new competitive season on the island: Alexander Alyabyev, Alexey Bugaev, Varvara Voronchikhina, Alexandra Devyatovskaya, Taisya Foryash, Alexander Yushkov.
At the Vostok Training Center, athletes engage in functional training, training endurance, speed and strength. According to the senior coach of the Russian Paralympic team, Alexander Nazarov, the training center has created good conditions for high-quality training. He noted that it is necessary to develop the Paralympic movement on Sakhalin and open a corresponding branch at the Olympic reserve school for skiing and snowboarding and the regional sports training center.
In addition to training at the Vostok Training Center, Paralympic athletes also train on the slopes of Mountain Air.
Previously “MK on Sakhalin” wrote, that in February of this year the Russian Alpine Skiing Cup was held in the regional center among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders. Para skiers competed in super-G, slalom and special slalom at the Mountain Air sports complex.
