The ban on the international LGBT movement (the organization is extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) is “a form of moral self-defense of society.” This statement was made by the deputy head of the synodal department for relations between the church and society and the media of the Moscow Patriarchate, Vakhtang Kipshidze.
“Recognizing the LGBT movement as extremist is a form of moral self-defense of society,” Kipshidze said.
He also noted that some Western Christians who adhere to traditional values regarding the family believe that the LGBT movement is aimed at displacing the Christian idea of marriage and family not only from the public but also from the legal space.
According to him, the activities of this international movement are directed against the Christian concept of marriage, which is the most religious concept.
In addition, Kipshidze recalled cases in the West when representatives of the LGBT community sued priests who said that same-sex marriage is a sin.
