“The Russian national team showed what they are capable of” – Kommersant FM

The Russian football team beat Cameroon with a minimal score of 1:0. The only goal scored in this friendly match was scored by CSKA forward Fedor Chalov in the 40th minute. Kommersant FM sports commentator Vladimir Osipov followed the developments at the Dynamo stadium.
The Russian football players started off very cheerfully. This is a slightly forgotten picture: players in the uniform of the Russian national team are looking for happiness in attack with almost full stands – more than 20 thousand people came to Dynamo that day.
Only the players on Karpin’s team didn’t have enough of a fuse for long; after about 15 minutes the situation began to change, and Matvey Safonov sometimes openly saved his goal from an inevitable goal, and there were several such episodes.
After such incidents, commentators began to criticize the team, and then, finally, what everyone had been waiting for happened. Fedor Chalov scored the much-needed goal, by the way, his first for the Russian national team.
After the break there were substitutions. Alexander Sobolev appeared instead of Chalov, brothers Alexey and Anton Miranchuk and young Maxim Mukhin also came out. Sobolev and Mukhin, by the way, scored a goal, albeit from an offside position, but in any case this added entertainment to the match.
One can now argue that Cameroon came to Moscow without its main stars, and that if the game had been official, everything would have been different, but the main thing is that the Russian team showed what it is capable of and won.
1:0 is a positive result. I remember the masters said that the most beautiful thing in football is the score on the scoreboard. However, expert Andrey Talalaev cheered up everyone who didn’t like something with facts that are hard to argue with:
“The Russian team can keep a clean sheet, they can score goals. Today three goals were scored, only one was counted. Overall a very enjoyable football evening.”
Moreover, after the final whistle, the captain of the Russian team, Dmitry Barinov, without undue modesty, highly appreciated the team’s actions: “Probably, in terms of organizing the game, this is one of our best matches that we have played recently.”
Well, against the backdrop of an unrealistic flow of negative news, including from the world of sports, the victory of the Russian national team is a rare and pleasant positive. Although head coach Valery Karpin found something to criticize his players for: “There was too much unreasonable, inexplicable, probably even defective stuff in simple programs. I don’t know, either it’s the field or the technology we have is like this. But if it weren’t for so many losses, I think the result could have been even better.”
In addition, the national team coach explained why the athletes need such meetings: “These games give the players an understanding of what European football is. Although the team is African, all its players play in Europe. It gives food for thought and at the same time gives some positive emotions.
If you prepare, if you tune in, if you carry out the setup, then you can play against such teams, although it is very difficult.”
We will expect another victory from the Russian team at the beginning of next week. On Monday, October 16, Karpin’s team plays another friendly match, this time with Kenya. The meeting will take place in Antalya, Turkey.
