The Russian national football team tied 1:1 with the Egyptian Olympic team (players under 23 years old) in a match that took place in Suez. 18 players made their debut for the national team in the game. Only players under 23 years old were included in the Russian team’s application.
In the 6th minute of the match, Bilal Mazhar scored a goal against the Russians. The Russian team pulled back in the 46th minute thanks to a goal by Stepan Oganesyan from Orenburg. Before the start of the match, the air temperature reached +38° C.
On September 11, Russia and the Egyptian Olympic team will play their second match in Suez. On September 12, the Russian team will play away against the Qatar national team.
On February 28, 2023, UEFA and FIFA excluded Russian national teams and clubs from all international tournaments. The decision was made against the background of the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine in 2022. Due to the decision of UEFA and FIFA, the Russian national team does not participate in the qualification for Euro 2024. The RFU’s application to host the European Championship in 2028 or 2032 was also rejected.
