The Russian National Guard does not have enough resources to protect schools, Parfenchik said

According to the deputy head of the main department of private security of the Russian Guard, Alexander Parfenchik, the department currently does not have sufficient resources to provide security for schools in Russia.

In order for even one security guard to guard a Russian school, it would require more than 770,000 employees of the Russian Guard and a budget of 594 billion rubles. Parfenchik noted that if municipalities already have private security of the Russian Guard, then an additional 440,000 employees will be required to protect schools. In the absence of such security in the areas, another 330,000 National Guardsmen will be required.

As Vedomosti clarifies, Parfenchik stated this during a hearing organized by the Duma Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Paternity, Maternity and Childhood.

At this meeting, a representative of the security community expressed the opinion that one employee per school would not be enough. Committee Chairman Nina Ostanina proposed dividing the required number of employees into three departments – the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, Parfenchik pointed out that currently the total number of private security personnel is about 85,000 people, and increasing its number by more than 9 times will require considerable time.
