The Russian national team dropped to 38th place in the ranking of the International Football Federation (FIFA). Prior to that, the Russian national team ranked 37th in this ranking.

Updated FIFA Rankings published on the official website of the International Football Federation.

The previous version of the rating was published on April 6. Since then, the Russian national team has not played a single match, while, in particular, the European national teams have begun a qualification campaign for the 2024 continental championship. Russia, due to sanctions, cannot take part in official tournaments.

Leadership in the FIFA rankings retains the reigning world champion Argentina. The second and third places are occupied by France and Brazil, respectively.

In the spring of 2022, shortly after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) suspended Russian teams from participating in tournaments. An attempt by the RFU to challenge these decisions in the Court of Arbitration for Sport was unsuccessful. In September, UEFA did not allow the Russian team to the draw for the qualifying tournament of the European Championship 2024. No decision has yet been made regarding the 2026 World Championship.

Last week, due to the decision of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to include clubs from Crimea in the Russian Football Championship, the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) called exclude RFU from FIFA and UEFA.
