The Russian Foreign Ministry imposed sanctions against 52 Irish politicians

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has included 52 key representatives of the leadership and politicians of Ireland on the sanctions list. About it reported on the website of the department.
In particular, Irish Prime Minister Michal Martin, his deputy Leo Varadkar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Simon Coveney, Minister of Justice Helen McIntee and Minister of Finance Pascal Donoghue fell under Russian sanctions. Also, Doyle’s chairman, Sean O’Foreel, and a number of senators and deputies of the lower house of the Irish parliament are now banned from entering Russia.
“Acting under the dictation of Brussels, Ireland is conducting an aggressive anti-Russian propaganda campaign, a course has been taken to curtail bilateral cooperation to the detriment of its own interests,” the Foreign Ministry explained the decision.
Diplomats also pointed to an attack on the Russian embassy in Dublin. The Foreign Ministry believes that the incident was the result of “heating up Russophobic hysteria in Irish society.” The agency noted that further steps would be taken depending on Dublin’s actions.
On November 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation also banned entry into the country for 100 Canadian citizens. The restrictions affected, in particular, the actors Jim Carrey and Katherine Vinnik, the grandson of Nazi accomplice Stepan Bandera Stefan Bandera, as well as a number of journalists from CBC, Global News, The Globe and Mail, CTV and others. It was noted that the decision was made in response to personal Canadian sanctions against Russian citizens, including Russian leaders and journalists.
