The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of humanitarian aid to the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh

Russia will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, stated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The ministry clarified that assistance is provided to both those who left the region and those residents who remained in Karabakh. After the end of hostilities, Russian peacekeepers delivered about 200,000 humanitarian supplies and also helped with the evacuation of victims due to the explosion at a gas station on September 25.

“Russian military doctors continue to work in the region,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

A special headquarters of Rossotrudnichestvo was created in Yerevan to coordinate humanitarian aid, whose employees have delivered more than 3,000 tons of cargo to Goris and 1,500 tons to Kapan over the past few days. The Foreign Ministry explained that the Armenian population of Karabakh is also being helped by the charitable foundation named after. Elizaveta Glinka “Doctor Lisa”, the Armenian diaspora in Russia, social activists, as well as companies, including SCR, GC “RUSAL Armenia”, “Gazprom Armenia”.

On September 19, Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire. Then negotiations took place in Yevlakh between the delegation of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities, after which the Karabakh military began to surrender their weapons. On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations.

After the cessation of hostilities, the exodus of Karabakh Armenians began. According to the Armenian government, more than 100,514 internally displaced persons are registered in the country. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov notedthat in the exodus of Armenians from the region, the Kremlin is most concerned about the humanitarian aspect – whether normal living conditions will be ensured for these people.
