The Russian Embassy reported that they are aware of the detention in Norway of Russian citizen Andrei Medvedev, who previously introduced himself as a fighter of the Wagner PMC.

However, as the diplomatic mission emphasized, the Norwegian side did not contact the Russian embassy on this issue.

The embassy also noted that in May of this year, Medvedev came to the consular department and stated his desire to return to Russia. They explained to him what documents he must provide, since he had crossed the border illegally and did not have a foreign passport.

In January of this year, it was reported that Medvedev was detained in Norway, where he entered illegally. He introduced himself as the commander of one of the units of the Wagner PMC and asked for asylum. He then stated that he wanted to return to Russia because he feared extradition to Ukraine. And the day before, the Norwegian television channel NRK reported that Medvedev was again detained while trying to illegally cross the border, this time from Norway to Russia. He was detained in the town of Grense-Jakobselv. At the same time, Medvedev’s lawyer called the incident a misunderstanding and assured that his client did not intend to illegally cross the border.
