The Russian division of Radio Liberty was declared bankrupt

The Moscow Arbitration Court declared Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty LLC bankrupt (included in the register of foreign agents). The decision is published in court filing cabinet. The corresponding lawsuit against the media was filed by the tax inspectorate on March 4.

“Declare the debtor bankrupt and open bankruptcy proceedings,” reads the court ruling. Yulia Aga-Kuliyeva, who had previously been an interim manager, was approved as the bankruptcy trustee, a correspondent said “RIA News” from the courtroom.

Initial bankruptcy procedure (supervision) court introduced in August, at the request of the Moscow Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service No. 7 (the initiator of the lawsuit) due to a tax debt of 7 million rubles. It follows from the case file that later the court turned on to the register the demand of the Federal Tax Service for another 720 million rubles, as well as requirement department for ensuring the activities of justices of the peace for 69 million rubles.

During the meeting, the defendant’s representative stated that it was impossible to pay taxes in full due to the blocking of the accounts of the broadcasting organization. The court made the corresponding decision after the initiation of numerous (at least 1,000 protocols) enforcement proceedings on violations related to the rules of work of the media-foreign agent (lack of marking).

On the termination of activities in Russia of Radio Liberty declared in March 2022. The organization motivated its decision by the bankruptcy case of a legal entity, as well as by “pressure on journalists.”
