The Russian city decided not to demolish the scandalous monument to Solzhenitsyn

A resident of the Amur region was denied his request to demolish the monument to the writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn in Vladivostok. This was reported by the press service of the judicial system of the Primorsky Territory.
According to the source, the Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok did not satisfy the claim of a citizen who wanted the monument to the writer to be demolished. The man demanded that the erection of the monument to Solzhenitsyn be declared illegal. As an argument, he stated that this writer is a controversial figure in modern Russia.
The monument to Solzhenitsyn was erected on Korabelnaya Embankment in Vladivostok in 2015. Three days after this, a local resident attached a sign with the inscription “Judas” to the sculpture. He stated that he would seek to dismantle the monument, since the monument greatly outraged him. In 2021, the man made a second attempt to remove the sculpture, but later abandoned his idea after seeing the results of a survey of local residents who did not want to demolish the monument.
