For Russia, the transition to the Asian Football Confederation is tantamount to “self-burrowing”, said the honorary president of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov.
Earlier it was reported that Russia could move from UEFA to the Asian Football Confederation. The national teams of Russia, as well as Russian clubs, have been suspended from participation in all international competitions for an indefinite period.
Koloskov noted that the success of the Asian teams at the World Cup in Qatar should not be misleading about the level of football in Asia.
“In UEFA, we played with strong teams – France, England and many others. So what, we added after playing with them? Became world or European champions? All this is nonsense that does not require any comment,” he said.
According to Koloskov, after moving to the Asian Football Confederation, Russia will play with teams such as Pakistan and Yemen.
“Moving into the Asian Confederation means burying yourself for years to come, playing routine football,” he summed up.
