The requirements did not match the salary – Kommersant FM

Employers are not ready to increase salaries for personal assistants even amid a staff shortage. And the salaries that are on the market do not suit job seekers. Recruiting agencies reported this to Kommersant FM. Last week, the online community was actively discussing the vacancy for a personal assistant to a jewelry business owner. 150 thousand rubles. per month before taxes with dozens of requirements did not satisfy most applicants. Users were especially outraged by the distribution of tasks: only 60% for business, and 40% for personal assignments. How much do personal assistants get paid? And what do they want from them? Aelita Kurmukova found out.

Requirements for an applicant for the position of personal or business assistant now take up several pages: ability to work with ChatGPT, knowledge of the cryptocurrency market, relocation experience, three languages, and also a search for the world’s best retreat centers, antique salons, not counting presentations and organizing personal meetings with management and members of his family. And the problem is that in Russia these two positions are still not separated. Hence the confusion about what the responsibilities of such an assistant are.

The salary level in Moscow is from 60 thousand rubles. up to 500 thousand rubles. per month, says Tatyana Dolyakova, general director of the ProPersonnel recruitment agency: “If an employer offers a salary of 200 thousand rubles or more, then, as a rule, these are both personal tasks and a business assistant. But now the salary level for a personal assistant, if we are talking about medium and small businesses, is around 120-150 thousand rubles. Employers want an assistant to have extensive work experience and perform both personal and business assignments. The level of wages has dropped quite significantly. On the one hand, there is a staff shortage, but the employer is not yet ready to increase wages by 20-30%.”

The highest salaries in the market are for business assistants to the management of large companies, especially in the IT sector, state corporations and banks: from 250 thousand rubles. up to 500 thousand rubles, shares Dolyakova. But the competition there is high, and the requirements are strict: mandatory experience in the industry and 24-hour communication. Which, by the way, young people are not at all ready for. Especially for personal assignments, notes the founder of the international agency for the selection of personal assistants yamm.agency Alexandra Maksakova:

“Even if we hire a personal assistant, who, in principle, should deal with personal tasks, a foreign manager will still have fewer of them. The foreign boss asks to buy a ticket, and ours says: “Organize everything yourself.”

Russian leaders are spoiled; they delegate everything. Plus they have a lot of personal errands. For example, I heard a lot of stories when assistants chatted with a manager on Tinder, made dates with girls, and bought flowers.”

A personal assistant is a secretary, a translator, and a lawyer. The burnout rate is high, hence the turnover, Maksakova emphasizes. Therefore, some employers immediately prescribe a condition – long-term cooperation – at least two to three years. As for personal assignments, it is better to discuss them in advance and write them down in the contract, says business assistant, author of the Telegram channel “Assistant Director of Everything” Polina Chanaeva:

“You can talk with your manager to understand where to take over some routine or build convenient business processes, get involved in project activities and thereby ask for more money. There are hundreds of different career paths for an assistant. If we are talking about a leadership position, then this is probably more relevant to a startup. As for large corporations, the assistant can go either to analytics or to HR.”

Management is no longer looking for a model in the reception area and gives preference to professional qualities over external ones, recruiters note. But it is more difficult for men to get such a place. If we talk about business assistants in Moscow, then on the hh.ru site alone there are almost a thousand such vacancies with a salary of 100 thousand rubles. up to 250 thousand rubles, including remotely.
