In the Zaporozhye region, in the city of Melitopol, on February 5, an ark with a particle of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh will be delivered. This was reported by the city administration.
“It will be possible to venerate the relics from 10:00 to 13:00 in the church in honor of the Great Martyr George the Victorious,” reads its Telegram channel.
Sergius of Radonezh (May 3, 1314 or May 1322 – September 25, 1392) – Abbot of the Russian Church, founder of a number of monasteries. Since the 15th century, the Russian Orthodox Church has been revered as a saint in the guise of saints. Considered the patron saint of students, his relics are in the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, founded by him.
In 2022, the bringing of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh to all federal districts of the Russian Federation organized Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church with the support of a number of public organizations. The ark with the relics was brought to at least 50 dioceses, the total length of the route was about 30 thousand km.
Then the bringing of the shrine was timed to coincide with the 600th anniversary of the acquisition of the honest relics of St. Sergius, to which the bringing of the relics to Melitopol is timed, the city administration does not report.
