On March 16, in the capital of Pomorie, at the Trud stadium, the Arkhangelsk Region Bandy Cup among men’s teams was held. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Sports.
Six ice squads from Arkhangelsk took part in it, and according to the Olympic system, they identified the strongest. The clear leader of the competition was the Northern Dvina team, which included former Vodnik players Denis Varlachev, Alexey Gladyshev, Stanislav Klyushanov, as well as the current yellow-green coaches Ivan Maksimov and Yuri Radyushin. In the decisive match, Vodnik-2007 provided them with worthy competition. In a tense battle, which took place to the accompaniment of rain, more experienced hockey players prevailed – 3:2.
– I am glad that a new leader has emerged at the regional level – Northern Dvina. It is worth noting that this is not the end of the hockey season for Russian hockey fans. On March 23, at the Trud stadium, the Tournament in memory of veterans of the Vodnik team will be held for the first time, and in April the second round of the Arkhangelsk Region Mini Bandy Championship will begin, noted Igor Gapanovich, Chairman of the Bandy Federation of the Arkhangelsk Region.
Having become the winners of the Arkhangelsk Region Cup, Northern Dvina achieved a golden double this hockey season. Having suffered only one defeat, she won the regional championship ahead of schedule.
