Since March 23, the Russian Red Cross (RRC) has collected 1.2 billion rubles for the victims and families of those killed in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, it reported press service organizations.

The head of the RKK, Pavel Savchuk, said that yesterday at a meeting of the organization’s special commission, measures of targeted urgent support were determined – the first 33 families were decided to receive financial assistance now, the press service reports. “Working with the lists and identifying people who need help continues. The second list of support recipients is already being formed,” said Mr. Savchuk.

The RKK clarified that the first decision of the special commission prescribed support measures for children who have lost one or two parents as a result of a tragedy or in the event that a parent is missing or is in hospital, victims who are undergoing treatment and in need of financial support, as well as those who was left as the sole breadwinner in the family and lost a spouse. The Red Cross began paying them from 300 to 450 thousand rubles. The organization plans to contact those eligible for assistance today.

The RKK emphasized that meetings of the special commission will be held regularly, each case will be considered individually. The organization assured that everyone who needs it will receive help. Mr. Savchuk said that at the second stage, the RKK will move on to systemic support measures, which include recovery after treatment. Within a month, the organization plans to assign monthly survivor benefits. As for children, these payments will go to their guardian or parent until the child reaches adulthood in addition to state support measures, Mr. Savchuk clarified.

The RKK stated that the special commission included representatives of social authorities from Moscow and the Moscow region, representatives of the Public Chamber of Moscow and the Public Chamber of the Moscow Region, representatives of the Russian Red Cross and a concert visitor, the husband of one of the victims. Deputy head of the government of the Moscow region Vyacheslav Dukhin, head of the capital’s department of labor and social protection Evgeny Struzhak and Mr. Savchuk were appointed co-chairs of the special commission. RKK will post on its website every two months a report on the expenditure of the collected funds.

The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall occurred on the evening of March 22. As a result, 143 people died and 360 were injured. As of March 25, 1 billion rubles had been collected to help victims of the terrorist attack as part of the “We Are Together” program. Sberbank also opened charitable accounts for fundraising.
