On the territory of the national park “Land of the Leopard” A rare goral was recorded. In the video, captured by an automatic camera, the animal moves carefully across rocky terrain and then quickly runs out of sight. In the 11 years of operation of the national park, this is the ninth time that a secretive ungulate has been captured on a camera trap. In addition, scientists noted that this individual had not previously been registered. An individual feature of gorals – the unique shape of their horns – will allow scientists to determine the population of this rare animal. The Amur goral is an extremely rare species both in Russia and in the world, and is listed as “Vulnerable” in the International Red List. It is estimated that there are only about 1,500 individuals of this animal left on the planet. In Russia, the population is divided into small groups, one of which lives in the Land of the Leopard national park.
