Clinical psychologist Valeria Ryzhik told how to deal with panic attacks. According to her, you should first of all stay in one place, focus on breathing and bodily sensations, writes URA.RU.

“In a panic attack, you should stay in one place and focus on breathing: try to breathe in your palms, or in a paper bag, you can lie on your back and pull your legs to your chest,” she said.

The expert explained that in this state, a person develops hyperventilation syndrome, a large amount of oxygen enters the body.

The psychologist also advises trying to switch to reality, for example, to feel how the feet stand or how the hips sit on a support, touch different parts of the body, eat something bright in taste, for example, citrus or menthol candy, smell pungent odors.

Ryzhik pointed out that there are special applications for the phone that you can turn on at the time of the attack and try to focus on it.

It should be remembered that this is a temporary condition, it is not for life, there is no real threat. You can also try to distract yourself, for example, with mathematical examples or pronouncing the names of surrounding objects.

If another person has a panic attack, you should not panic yourself in the first place. In a calm voice, ask him if he needs anything right now, count out loud to five together to help slow down his breathing. Support with words, say that you are there. Give the person water or sweet tea.
