The Prosecutor General’s Office will check the words of the Minister of Sports of the Rostov region after the collapse of the stands with people

Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Nina Ostanina appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to conduct an audit against the Minister of Sports of the Rostov Region Samvel Arakelyan. The parliamentarian wrote about this in her Telegram-channel.
The reason for Ms. Ostanina’s appeal to the prosecutor’s office was the comments of the head of the Ministry of Sports of the region regarding the incident on the Rowing Canal in Rostov, when 36 people were injured and a woman died due to the fall of the spectator stand at the stadium. In particular, Samvel Arakelyan said that the portable tribune should not have been fixed, and the football tournament between schoolchildren was held in accordance with the calendar plan.
“I believe that such a statement and responsibility for one’s own official duties are unacceptable, especially when children are victims of the tragedy,” wrote Nina Ostanina.
Incident on the Rowing Canal in Rostov happened on the afternoon of May 30th. Then, due to a storm wind, during a match between schoolchildren from Bataysk and Rostov, a portable spectator stand turned over. A woman died, more than 30 people were injured, most of them children. Now the affected children and adults are in medical facilities of the Rostov region. One of the children was transported to Moscow for treatment.
