According to the decision of the jury, the consortium of the architectural bureau Wowhaus from Moscow became the winner of the All-Russian competition for the creation of sketches of the social and cultural center. The competition was held with the financial support of DOM.RF. The press service of the company revealed the details of the event.
The winner proposed to create a space for self-realization of local residents on the basis of the cultural center. It will provide residents with new ways of leisure and education. In addition, the consortium proposed to organize a city lounge in the center, where meetings of government officials with society, as well as business events, will be held. Architects from Moscow also came up with the idea of an experience center with the region’s main sights and information for tourists.
“After the successful development of documents for the spatial development of the historical center, the square, the observation deck and the concept of the Severny microdistrict, we responded to the wishes of the citizens about the emergence of a new attraction in the city. The public and cultural center will become the starting point in the implementation of the master plan of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky,” said Anton Finogenov, Director for the Development of the Urban Environment of DOM.RF.
The selection was attended by Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, First Vice President of Gazprombank Pavel Brusser, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kamchatka Territory Irina Untilova and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory Yulia Morozova.
“The objective of the competition was to rethink the central square of the city: to create an urban public space for unification and self-realization, the formation of modern conditions for a comfortable all-season holiday for local residents and tourists. The jury had an incredibly difficult choice. The difference between the first and second places was less than a point,” summed up the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov.
The press service noted that the cultural center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky will be built as part of the master plan of the city from DOM.RF. The project area is 5.34 hectares.
