Greenpeace activity in Russia is recognized as undesirable, reported Prosecutor General’s Office. The agency found that the activities of the organization threaten the foundations of the constitutional order and the security of the Russian Federation. The decision concerns both the non-profit organization itself and its international foundation.
“In relation to the Russian Federation, Greenpeace’s environmental activities are actually accompanied by the active promotion of a political position, attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the state and are aimed at undermining its economic foundations,” the statement said.
It also notes that the work of the organization often hinders the implementation of Russian state programs – with the help of information campaigns and uncoordinated actions, Greenpeace forms a negative public opinion in order to “prevent the implementation of infrastructure and energy projects beneficial to the country.”
The Greenpeace Foundation, according to the Russian regulatory agency, finances the activities of foreign agents and requires changes in Russian legislation. His efforts are aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation and attempting to change power in the country in an unconstitutional way, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
March 10, 2023 Ministry of Justice acknowledged foreign agent, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF; formerly the World Wide Fund for Nature).
