The Prosecutor General’s Office demanded an explanation from Wildberries for the new commission

Representatives of Wildberries and banks were summoned to a meeting by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office. According to Telegram-channel Mash, the reason for the conversation was the commission introduced by the marketplace when paying with Visa and Mastercard cards.
Previously, Wildberries announced that it would charge a 3% commission on the purchase price for payments through international payment systems. This share will be sent as a fee to the bank for processing the payment.
According to Dmitry Kolesnikov, director for development of financial and payment services at Wildberries, such changes are associated with the inability to process transactions on Visa and Mastercard cards directly.
According to Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail Delyagin, it is necessary to adopt the “Bakalchuk Law” in relation to Wildberries, since there is a risk of abuse of a monopoly position by marketplaces.
He believes that Wildberries violates antitrust laws. If a company decided to raise the cost of its work by 3%, it would be considered a legal action. Now the marketplace discriminates against foreign payment systems.
