The prosecutor asked to impose a sentence of eight years in prison on St. Petersburg artist-activist Alexandra Skochilenko, accused of spreading fake news about a military operation in Ukraine. The prosecution requested that the girl be sent to serve her sentence in a general regime correctional colony and deprived of the right to engage in activities related to website administration for a period of three years, reported United press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
Case under Part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (dissemination of false information about the actions of the armed forces of the Russian Federation) was initiated due to the fact that the girl replaced several price tags in one of the stores of the Perekrestok chain with leaflets with information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine. An elderly store visitor noticed this and called the police. Defense of Alexandra Skochilenko insistedthat her detention is dangerous, since the artist has celiac disease (gluten intolerance).
Defense of the artist insisted on the fact that the judge Oksana Demyasheva, who is considering the case, recuses herself, since the regime of the court hearings “bears signs of torture.” In October the trial extended arrest of Alexandra Skochilenko for three months. Lawyers said that the girl’s health condition had worsened. She has repeatedly filed complaints with the medical unit, but cannot receive qualified help.
