President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova personally confirmed the information that at the moment assistance to Ukraine will be stopped until a new government is elected, the Telegram channel “Country Politics” reports.
“Zuzana Čaputová spoke again, reiterating that she and the prime minister agree that such steps should only be taken by a duly elected government,” it said.
At the same time, Caputova denied statements that she would oppose the Ministry of Defense’s plan to provide another package of military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, according to her, in this matter it is necessary to respect the results of the elections.
Earlier, the Dennik N portal reported that Slovak President Zuzana Caputova opposed the provision of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. According to the president, it would be a bad precedent to ignore the position of the anti-Ukrainian party Smer-SD, which won the parliamentary elections, and provide assistance to Kyiv.
It was also reported that the Slovak Ministry of Defense is studying the possibility of providing Ukraine with another package of military assistance, which could be transferred to Kyiv even before the start of the new parliament, but Caputova opposed the corresponding plan. Earlier, the party of ex-Prime Minister Robert Fico, Smer-SD, won the elections in Slovakia, promising voters “not to give Ukraine a single bullet.”
