Media: Trump may offer himself as Speaker of the US Congress

Former US President Donald Trump may nominate himself for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives, reported Politico, citing a source in the Republican Party.
According to the newspaper, the ex-president may visit parliament as early as next week “shortly before the election of the speaker of legislators.” It is clarified that Trump will need unanimity in the Republican Party, which is “an obstacle for the controversial former president.”
Trump said on October 4 that he is now focused on the presidential campaign. He clarified that he is ready to help with the speaker election process.
On October 3, the US House of Representatives removed Republican Kevin McCarthy from the post of speaker, which became the first case in the history of the American parliament. Patrick McHenry became temporary speaker. It was his fellow party member, representative of the right wing of the Republican Party, Matt Gaetz, who proposed removing McCarthy from office.
This happened after Congress agreed on a short-term budget that will allow the US government to operate for the next 45 days before the next vote. The initiative introduced by McCarthy does not include funding for Ukraine.
