Odessa is a Russian and “slightly” Jewish city, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
“Odessa is, of course, a Russian city, but it’s a little bit Jewish,” he said at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.
At last year’s plenary session of Valdai, the President noted, that the Ukrainian city of Odessa can be “both an apple of discord and a symbol of conflict resolution.” Then he again confirmed Moscow’s readiness for negotiations with Kiev.
Previously, Putin agreed with the statement that civilization is not territories, but people. He clarified that Russia’s actions in the Donbass and Ukraine are dictated by the protection of the population.
