President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania assessed the economic damage from the war with Georgia. According to him, it exceeded $11 billion, which was announced during the festive parade in honor of the 30th anniversary of the victory in the Georgian-Abkhaz war.
“As a result of the war, colossal damage was caused to the economy and infrastructure of Abkhazia,” Bzhania said, listing that social infrastructure, enterprises, resort facilities, communications, as well as housing stock were destroyed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania on the occasion of Victory and Independence Day. The head of the Russian state noted that our country intends to continue to provide all possible assistance to the government and people of Abkhazia, including in ensuring national security.
