Power went out in three towers of the Moscow City business center, people evacuated on their own, reported “RIA News” in emergency services. TASS emergency services reported that the power outage in the IQ quarter of Moscow City was caused by a power surge.
President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the blackout in the business center.
At 18:10, the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the capital received a message that an alarm went off at Presnenskaya Embankment, 10, building. “There were no signs of fire. At 18:58, power supply was restored, ”the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Moscow reports. There were no reports of casualties, they said.
“There was a power outage in three towers, the elevators stopped, people began to decrease on their own. Most people have already returned home,” the emergency services told RIA Novosti. “A false fire alarm went off after a power surge, resulting in a power outage. Approximately 100 people were taken out of the building,” the emergency services told TASS.
Mr. Putin, during a meeting with members of the government via videoconference, jokingly drew attention to the problems in Moscow City. This happened before the report of the head of the Ministry of Economy Maxim Reshetnikov, the premises of the ministry are located in the Moscow City building.
On the monitor installed in the president’s office in the Kremlin, it was clearly visible that Mr. Reshetnikov was sitting at a table in his office, immersed in twilight. After some time, the light appeared on the picture. “I hope that the repair work that is being carried out there in your complex will not prevent you from making a report,” the president said, passing the floor to the minister (quoted from TASS).
The IQ quarter houses the premises of the Treasury of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Economics.
